Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Senate Natural Resources Committee will take testimony this week in Lansing on a resolution appealing a recent decision to return wolves to federal protection as endangered species.
The measure, introduced by Senator Tom Casperson, calls on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Michigan DNR to rescind the decision.
Casperson says interested U.P. residents will be able to participate in the hearing by videolink at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood and City Hall in Manistique.
The session begins Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. eastern time.
Casperson’s resolution also supports federal legislation set to be introduced by Great Lakes members of Congress to remove wolves from being considered as endangered species so states can manage them.
