Ishpeming Township, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported drug overdose in Ishpeming Township yesterday that was followed by a high-speed traffic chase of one of the suspects.

Deputies were called out around 9:30 a.m. on a report of an unresponsive female drug overdose victim lying in the yard of 1065 School Street.

A man was also found in a drug induced state.

The two were treated at an area hospital and the man was arrested on a parole violation.

Investigators found there had been a woman at the scene who fled on foot into a nearby wooded area and was picked up by a friend in a 2001 Oldsmobile sedan.

When deputies located the car and tried to stop it, the driver took off at a high rate of speed.

The chase ran through North Lake onto Westwood Drive, where the car went off the road.

The driver then fled on foot and was arrested a short time later on multiple warrants.

The female passenger was treated on the scene.

A search of the School Street location found evidence of drug use and paraphernalia, and the investigation is continuing.
