Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Three men have been arrested after a pair of armed robberies in Marquette County this morning.

Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies say two men, dressed in black clothes and wearing masks, entered the America’s Best Value Inn in Chocolay Township around 6:15 a.m., threatened the clerk with a knife and demanded money.

The clerk, a licensed concealed pistol permit holder, refused and pointed his pistol at the men who fled in a waiting vehicle.

The suspects headed south on US-41 and the clerk called 9-1-1.

A short time later, another 9-1-1 call reported that two men with a knife and a baseball bat had robbed a pair of customers at the Kassell’s Corner Convenience Store in Beaver Grove.

The description of the men and their vehicle matched the earlier attempted robbery, and authorities stopped the vehicle on US-41 near Heidtman Road.

Two 18-year-olds and one 22-year-old, all from Delta County, were arrested.

Deputies also recovered an undisclosed amount of cash.
