Sled Dog Race Preparations Underway In Marquette

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Street closures have begun in the City of Marquette for the annual kickoff of the UP200 and Midnight Run sled dog races.

    Washington Street from Front Street to Lakeshore Boulevard has been closed today and will remain closed until 2:00 a.m. on Saturday.

    Many other streets in downtown Marquette will be closed through the day tomorrow in preparation for the opening ceremonies for the races.

    Activities will begin at 6:15 p.m. tomorrow at the corner of Washington and Fourth Street with the first musher for the UP200 scheduled out of the gate at 7:00 p.m.

    The start of the Midnight Run will follow at 8:30 p.m.

    Several events are planned for tomorrow night in downtown Marquette for spectators to enjoy along with the starts of the races.
