Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Two Upper Michigan tribal colleges are receiving funding through a federal USDA Rural Development grant.

Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College in Baraga and Bay Mills Community College in Brimley will each receive $143,000 Tribal College Initiative Grants.

The program provides funding to tribal colleges to make capital improvements to their educational facilities and to purchase equipment.

Officials say KBOCC will use the funds to make campus improvements, while the Bay Mills school will purchase early learning and business equipment.
