    Lansing, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Michigan State Police say preliminary reports indicate traffic fatalities were down this Labor Day holiday weekend from last year.

    State Police are reporting nine deaths in nine separate traffic crashes during the 2016 Labor Day holiday weekend.

    That compares to 12 traffic crashes and 15 deaths during the 2015 Labor Day holiday period.

    The numbers are preliminary and only reflect those fatalities reported to the State Police as of Tuesday.

    The 2016 Labor Day holiday weekend ran from 6 p.m. last Friday through 11:59 p.m. on Monday.
