Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Northern Michigan University’s 10th day enrollment report is showing a continuing decline of students at the Marquette school.

The current total enrollment is 7,750, a decrease of 419 or 5.1 percent from last year.

Officials say the numbers reflect declining high school class sizes and larger recent graduating classes at NMU.

A bright spot is in the concurrently enrolled high school partnerships with area school districts that allow students to take college credits before graduation.

Concurrent enrollment is 132, compared with 12 last year. Strong enrollment in the art and design, nursing and criminal justice programs are being reported with growth in biology, public administration and construction management.
