Houghton, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Crews with the United States and Canadian Coast Guard are continuing to search a 15-hundred mile area of Lake Superior along the Keweenaw Peninsula for two adults and a child who went missing Saturday night during a fishing trip.

Authorities say 61-year-old Keith Karvonen of Atlantic Mine launched a 14-ft. boat from Portage Entry in Chassell early Saturday.

Also on the boat was a 43-year-old Steven Chartre of Ishpeming and his 9-year-old son Ethan.

Family members reported them missing after they were not heard from later that day.

Anyone with any information related to the search is urged to contact the Coast Guard Sault Sainte Marie command center at 906-635-3233.
