Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Michigan State Police say the Mackinac Bridge is closed to north and south bound traffic due to a multi-vehicle accident and blowing snow conditions.

M-DOT is reporting the accident is affecting northbound and southbound I-75 at the Mackinac Bridge.

Reports say the accident involved eight vehicles and happened around 9:30 a.m. near the toll booths on the bridge’s north side.

No word on any injuries.

High winds gusting up to 50 mph at the Straits of Mackinac were creating areas of bad visibility for motorists.

The closure is expected to last for several hours.
