Two Semi-Truck Collision Closes Highway In Delta County

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Traffic on US-2 in Delta County was stopped this morning for about two hours due to an accident involving two semi-trucks.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. in Garden Corners when an eastbound semi-truck was slowing down to turn into a rest area and was rear-ended by another semi-truck.

Authorities say both semis went off of the highway, with the second truck crashing into some trees.

The driver of the second semi was airlifted to UP Health Systems-Marquette for treatment of injuries.

A passenger in that semi was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital on reports of chest pains.

No names have been released and there is no word on the condition of the driver of the first semi-truck.

The crash remains under investigation.
