Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – One person was arrested following a brief high-speed chase last night in Skandia.

State Police from the Negaunee Post attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on US-41 near M-94 around 8:40 p.m.

Troopers say the driver of the vehicle refused to stop and they began a high-speed pursuit heading south on US-41.

The officer, however, ended the chase when the suspect vehicle turned off the highway onto a road that was too snow covered and slippery to continue.

State Police were able to identify the suspect and later found the individual inside the vehicle.

The suspect was arrested for fleeing and eluding police, resisting and obstructing arrest, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

The suspect is currently lodged in the Marquette County Jail. No name is being released pending arraignment in 96th District Court.
