Former NMU Football Coach Passes Away

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Northern Michigan University community is mourning the loss of former head football coach Gil Krueger.

    Krueger, who guided the Wildcats to the 1975 NCAA Division II Football Championship, passed away Saturday at the age of 87 in Walnut Creek, California.

    Krueger coached at NMU from 1974-77.

    His achievements included being named 1975 NCAA Division II Coach of the Year, a school-record 10 regular-season wins and an 18-game winning streak that remains the longest in program history.
