MSP Trooper Involved In U.P. Shooting

    Hulbert, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Sault Ste. Marie post are reporting a Trooper-involved shooting last night in Chippewa County.

    The incident began when officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Hulbert around 6:30 p.m. State Police say a suspect, only identified as a 37-year-old white male, fled the scene in a vehicle.

    The suspect rammed into the police vehicles, disabling them and injuring one of the Troopers.

    He then got out of the vehicle and continued to attempt to harm the officers, and was shot by another State Police Trooper on the scene.

    The injured Trooper was treated and released from an area hospital, while the suspect was airlifted to UP Health System-Marquette for further treatment.

    His condition is not known at this time.

    The incident is under investigation by the State Police and the Trooper is currently on administrative leave.
