Driver Cited In Logging Truck Accident

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police from the from the Negaunee Post say a logging truck went off US-41 early this morning in Marquette Township near a local car dealership.

The accident happened around 4:45 a.m. when an eastbound semi-truck log hauler, driven by 18-year-old Kassie Metcalf of Newberry, left the roadway, traveled through the ditch, and came to rest near vehicles at Fox Motors Marquette.

The semi was not loaded at the time and damage was limited to the undercarriage. Several nearby vehicles at the lot may have been damaged by flying debris.

Troopers say Metcalf fell asleep at the wheel and was ticketed for careless driving.
