Marquette Police Report Incident With Barricaded Man

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette City Police responded to a report of a suicidal man who had barricaded himself inside his home with a firearm in North Marquette this morning.

The call came in to police around 4:15 a.m. of the situation on the 2300 block of Presque Isle Avenue.

Officers were told the man was alone inside the home and he had discharged a firearm.

The man’s girlfriend had left the residence before police were contacted.

The man initially refused to talk to police, but eventually surrendered to authorities just after 9:30 a.m. after several phone calls.

He was taken to UP Health System-Marquette without incident for evaluation. No name has been released.
