Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette authorities rescued two people off of the ice yesterday on Lake Superior near Presque Isle Park.

Rescuers were called out after 6:30 last night on a report of two people stranded on a large piece of breakaway ice about 500 yards from shore on Middle Bay.

Rescuers were able to reach the people using an inflatable raft and assisted them to shore.

The two people were evaluated by EMS personnel and released.

Authorities say the ice is currently very unstable and unreliable and people need to stay off of it.
