Harvey Man Falls Through Ice On Lake Superior

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette City Firefighters were called out early this morning to rescue a person who had fallen through the ice in Marquette’s Lower Harbor.

The call came in just after 12:20 a.m. about the victim falling through ice near Thill’s Fish Dock.

Two firefighters put on cold water wetsuits and swam out to the victim, who was about 60 feet from shore and brought him to safety.

The person was identified as 21-year-old John Slagle of Harvey.

He was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment hypothermia.
