03/20/14 East Lansing, Michigan- Carl Leander Johnson the voice of the Negaunee Miners and his brother Wayne Johnson were in East Lansing today to bring you an exciting game as the Negaunee Miners Boys Basketball team as they face Detroit Consortium Cougars in state semi final play on Sunny.FM.
Detroit Consortium were first to score in the game to take the lead a four point lead against the Negaunee Miners. The Negaunee Miners would put their first points on the board with a triple to trail Detroit Consortium 6-3 early in the first quarter. With the quarter half over the Negaunee Miners trailed 8-6 against Detroit Consortium. The Negaunee Miners only trailed by one point to end the first quarter 12-11 against Detroit Consourtium.
Detroit Consortium would start the second quarter gaining a few baskets to lead by 5 points
against the Negaunee Miners 16-11. The Negaunee Miners struggled against Detroit Consortium’s defense and trail 21-14 with 5 minutes left in the second quarter. The Negaunee Miners trailed by nine points with 4 minutes left in the first half 25-16 against Detroit Consortium. The Negaunee Miners continued to struggle with offense and ended the first half trailing 32-18.
Detroit Consortium would score first, but the Negaunee Miners would answer back with 2 baskets to trail 34-22 early in the third quarter. The Negaunee Miners came out in this half with more of an aggressive play but trail 43-31 against Detroit Consortium with 2 minutes left in the quarter. With a minute and a half left in the quarter the Miners trailed by 14 points 45-31 against Detroit Consortium. The third quarter ended with Detroit Consortium leading 49-37 against the Miners.
The Negaunee Miners continued to struggle against Detroit Consortium and trailed 51-38 early in the fourth quarter. Detroit Consortium maintained a impressive lead 57-40 over the Negaunee Miners halfway through the fourth quarter. The Negaunee Miners were unable to catch Detroit Consortium today and fell 69-54.
