Marquette, MI  –  July 14, 2018  –  The Pioneer Days spirit took over the beach front this evening at Teal Lake in Negaunee. The community wrapped up the week long Pioneer Days festivities with a packed shoreline as we all waited for the annual fireworks display over Teal Lake. Earlier in the day the community gathered on Iron Street for the 39th Annual Pioneer Days Parade followed by the Community Picnic at Teal Lake! CMA artist Donald Benjamin jammed out at the picnic added a memorable country lovin’ live music feature to this year’s picnic.

Kids played in the sand and ran around with sparklers while others in the crowd chatted with friends and family, all waiting for the last light to fade from the sky.  Finally the time came and the show began. The crew on the barge opened with a big start shooting off four or five fireworks at once. As the first firework shot into the sky lighting up the air with pinks and purples.  The show built slowly as the barge set of one firework after another with quick pauses in between.

The finale was a huge long burst of color.
The finale was a huge, long burst of color.

Mixing in different styles of fireworks, we saw large bursts and slow faders, fireworks in shapes like hearts and rings and others that exploded into even more fireworks in the sky. The crowd watched as the show built up with a few multi-firework bursts shooting into the air. Reaching the finale, all eyes were on the sky. Flashes of color lit up the lake as the pops echoed across the water. The big finish was so bright, you almost had to look away – almost! When the show ended the crowd cheered and clapped before everyone picked up their things and heading home.
