Marquette, MI 49855 – July 5, 2014 – Remember the men who risked everything to Create The USA
This weekend, we celebrate Independence Day. Like many of our holidays, we celebrate, but do not always appreciate the significance of what we celebrate. This is NOT just another 3-day weekend. It isn’t just a celebration of a birthday… it’s a remembrance of the courage and the sacrifice of those who made the declaration itself. There are still those who disparage the signers as “just a bunch of rich white guys who were looking our for themselves”… these people are clearly NOT in their RIGHT MIND. The story THE AMERICANS WHO RISKED EVERYTHING is a good place to start their education.
These rich white men had much more to lose than to gain, and most of them lost EVERYTHING. Share the story with those who need a little help getting in their RIGHT MIND! Some may not read because they hate the author – that is truly sad.
There are similarities between the grieviences of the colonists and complaints about our own government. A quick read of the declaration will let you see for yourself. Once you’ve read the whole thing… read the opening and closing statements again… This is an eloquent document.
The story of the Star Spangled Banner is a great story, and although some question the accuracy of some versions… this is my favorite version.
We also played some different versions of some songs you know… It’s great to hear old songs done in new ways.
The most important part of this day is our need to remember those who risked EVERYTHING to create this nation. those who risked everything in the many wars for its survival, and those who continue to risk everything for the rest of us. We must never forget the sacrifices made, and those who willingly make those sacrifices. God Bless Them All!
