The TRUE Beginning of Negaunee Football

1022

For 125 years the Negaunee Miner Football Program has taught young men the value of hard work, working as a team and being a valuable member of the community.  Thousands of players have worn the Maize and Blue proudly since the formation of the program in 1894.

But how do you get youngsters interested?  Football is something that takes commitment – both time and energy must be dedicated – and youngsters have to WANT to play.

So, for over 30 years the Negaunee Football players and coaches have done just that – cultivated 3rd – 6th grade boys and girls with their Saturday morning Flag Football games.

For two hours every Saturday through early October, current Negaunee Varsity players will Coach, Teach and act as Mentors to the younger kids to promote the fun of playing Football.  The games are loose and fun and meant to encourage the younger players to enjoy the spirit of the game and the lessons that it teaches.  It gets them wanting to play the game, and encourages them to attend both the JV and Varsity games in the Fall.
