Kingsford, Michigan December 15th, 2015 – The Negaunee Miners Boys Basketball team traveled to Kingsford, Michigan tonight to face the Kingsford Flivers. Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault were there to bring you all the exciting action from the UP Propane Press Box on Sunny.FM.
The Kingsford Flivers won the tip, but were unable to complete the play. Dylan Tasson was the first to put points on the board with a 3 point shot and gave the Negaunee Miners an early lead of 3-0. The Kingsford Flivers put their first points on the board with a quick basket with just under 5 minutes played, to trail 5-2 to the Miners. Jay Lori had a fast break halfway through the quarter and dunked the ball and immediately follow that basket with another to give the Miners 11-2 lead. The Negaunee Miners offense played great the first quarter and led 11-5 against the Kingsford Flivers.
The Kingsford Flivers were first to score early in the second, but Trent Bell answered back for the Miners to keep a 6 point lead 13-7. Dre Tuominen shot a deep three with the quarter half over and gave the Miners a 16-7 lead over the Flivers. The Negaunee Miners defense held strong to maintain the lead 20-13 to end the first half.
The Negaunee Miners entered the third quarter with a rough start offensively, but turned it around quickly and led 22-15 early. The Kingsford Flivers started to gain on the Miners lead, but the Miners held them off and led 30-18 with 4 minutes left in the quarter. The Negaunee Miners continued to increase their lead throughout the rest of the quarter and led 38-20 to the Kingsford Flivers at the end of the three.
The Negaunee Miners continued to dominate the game in the
fourth quarter and convincingly won over the Kingsford Flivers. The Negaunee Miners were led in points tonight by Tino’s Player of the Game, Jay Lori with 20 points. The Negaunee Miners improved their winning record tonight to 3-0. GO MINERS!
