Negaunee, Michigan01/24/2018– The Negaunee Miners Girls stayed home to take on the Escanaba Eskymos this Wednesday night. The Miner ladies came into this game a clean 11-0 while the Eskymos were 4-5. Brady Guilbault and Jesse Anderson had all of the play-by-play action for this game on Sunny FM.

The tip-off was won by the Eskymos to start the game and they  played a fast-paced game against the Miners through out the first quarter. The Eskymos scored the first two points of the game and Abby Nelson answered back with a long two of her own for the Miners. McKensie Karki, Natalie Bartle, and Clara Johnson also scored for the Miners in the first quarter. 14-11 was the score at the end of one with the Miners leading the Eskymos. In the second quarter, Natalie Bartle and Clara Johnson were the lead scorers for the Miners. Negaunee did get the double bonus in the second quarter. Ielee Shiroda and Payton Drew both had floor time and made free-throws for Negaunee in the second quarter. 32-17 was the score at half-time and the Miners still held the lead.

The second half of the game was just as fast-paced as the first half. There were a lot of free-throws for both teams. Jesse had mentioned that the Miners were playing great non-selfish basketball tonight and it really showed in the third quarter. Hannah Voskuhl made a nice three points for the Miners. 54-28 was the score at the end of the third quarter as the Eskymos were trailing the Miners.

In the fourth, Jenna Sager, Lynsee Dempsey, and Megan Syrjala made an appearance for Negaunee. Right after Lynsee Dempsey swooshed and made the score 72-32, a running clock started with 53 seconds left in the game. Escanaba scored a three and Megan Syrjala answered right back with a three of her own. 75-36 was the final score of the game with the Miners dominating over the Eskymos.
