MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Township Board has approved the replacement of the existing Township Hall and Fire Hall to commence in the fall of 2012, with completion of the buildings due by late summer of 2013.

Township Manager Randy Girard joined The SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to discuss plans for the new Township facility.  Girard says the new facilities will be centrally-located in the Township and with the majority of the Township’s population in Trowbridge Park and will feature a community room that may be used by all Township residents for various events.

Girard says a high point in the plans is that the new facilities will provide a centrally-located gathering place for the community, sufficient office and storage space for the next 20 to 25 years.

The estimated project cost for land and improvements for the Township Hall, Community Center and Fire Hall is $3.9 million.

Girard also added that this community-wide enhancement will be completed without having to involve the public through a millage request or any additional taxation.
