Marquette, MI – (01/18/20) – The Ishpeming Ski Club is presenting the 133rd Annual Suicide Ski Hill Ski Jumping Tournament this Tuesday, January 21st.
Gary Rasmussen, Chief of Competition at the tournament, and Ishpeming Ski Club VP Peter Copenhaver joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today to preview the event and invite everyone to the longest consecutively running ski jumping tournament in the country.
Rasmussen said US and International ski jumpers will defy gravity as they soar off of the historic Suicide Ski Bowl ski jump in Negaunee. He said the tournament will begin with trial runs starting at 6:00 pm.
Copenhaver said it’s a family friendly, fun for all event with tailgating, concessions and bonfires while watching the jumpers compete, and a fireworks display at the conclusion of the tournament.
He added that there will also be a world-qualifying Junior Nordic cross-country ski race at Suicide on Wednesday morning at 8:00 am to come and see as well.
