Marquette, MI – (04/07/20) – The City of Marquette has closed all of it’s parks due to COVID-19 concerns.  Mayor Jenna Smith joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today to talk about the decision and more.

Smith explained that the city made the decision based on people who were going to parks and congregating in groups against social distancing guidelines.

She explained that most of the closures went into effect yesterday, but as of tomorrow, all public bathrooms along the Multi-Use Path and in city parks will be closed.  The path in the city will stay open, but signage will be posted to remind users to maintain the recommended 6 feet of separation.

Smith also recommended that residents begin to use masks to cover their faces as they venture outside as necessary.
