Marquette, MI – September 29, 2020 – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today for an update on several items. Whitmer said she was visiting Upper Michigan later in the day to take part in a National Guard deployment ceremony and to meet with health officials in the western U.P.
Whitmer explained that as the COVID-19 case numbers are continuing to grow in many parts of Upper Michigan, state health officials are reminding everyone to continue to use masks and face coverings as the key weapons in the fight to stop the spread of the virus.
She also talked about how lawmakers in Lansing were able to come to an agreement in a timely manner concerning the state’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins this Thursday. Whitmer said a spirit of bipartisanship and an understanding of the other challenges currently faced by the state made it possible to get the budget done with minimal legislative wrangling.
