Marquette, MISeptember 30, 2020 – The Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority is making it more convenient for area residents to recycle starting tomorrow, October 1st.

Brad Austin, Director of Operations at the MCSWMA, joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today to talk about the advent of single-stream recycling in the county and what it means for residents.

Austin explained that residents will now be able to place cardboard, paper, plastic, and metal in their bins or carts for curbside pickup.

Austin added that residents will be able to place glass in a separate container, or take it to the local recycling drop-off center for it to be repurposed.

Examples of the various types of repurposed glass.

He said the glass will be ground to various consistencies ranging from aggregate for construction and landscaping to sand for roadway usage to powder to use as fly ash in concrete.
