9-6-2013 Negaunee, Michigan — It’s Friday Night Football again in Neguanee on Sunny.FM. Thanks for joining us at Sunny.FM for the second game of the 2013 Miners high school football season. Negaunee took on the Calumet Copper Kings this week, hope you enjoyed this recap of the game’s highlight moments!
The Calumet Copper Kings got the ball first and started the game off driving hard against the Miners defense. Miners were able to hold strong at first but as their defense became tired and rough Calumet was able to get a 5 yard touchdown by Jacob Pieti. Not to be outdown, Neguanee comes back with a 60 yard touchdown scored by Tyler LaJoie! This tied the score at 8-8.
Copper Kings got the ball and lost it by a fumble, Negaunee recovered the ball. The pre-game rains made for a muddy and slippery field. Lots of slipping went on and coaches were forced to change up game plans to compensate. Tyler LaJoie scored another touchdown for Negaunee before the end of the first quarter making the score 16-8 going into the second quarter.

Football night in Negaunee on Sunny.FM, began the second quarter with the Copper Kings holding the ball. Unable to score they had to hand the ball back to the Miners who got a 6 yard gain, by Tyler LaJoie, almost unheard of! Everyone was in awe of his performance Friday night. Tyler Windhall winds up the second quarter with a 1 yard touchdown for the Miners in the last 2 minutes of the first half ending the first half of the game at 24-8 Negaunee leading.

Football night in Negaunee on Sunny.FM began the third quarter with a fantastic play by Zane Radloff who maintained his composure while being tackled and still made the catch! One great play followed by another as Tyler LaJoie made a 1 yard touchdown for Negaunee widening their lead to 30-8 over Calumet. Sports commentator Carl Johnson congratulates Negaunee on their great job of spreading their running plays to both sides and the center of the field. Lots of action for the Miners during the third quarter as Sirjala scores a touchdown and gets an extra 2 points bringing the score to 38-8. At this point things were looking bad for a Calumet comeback. However, the Copper Kings showed great character, not giving up although they trailed far behind and continued to give it their all. This spirit payed off as Calumet scored a touchdown by Rowan and finished the third quarter at 38-16 Negaunee leading.

Negaunee Miners: 38
Calumet Copper Kings: 16
Football night in Negaunee on Sunny.FM began with a monster play by Sirjala running with the ball while it took 4-5 Calumet players to take him down. Both teams held each other in check with no more points scored and ended the game with another win for the Negaunee Miners at 38-16!
