U.P. Agencies Receive Federal Grants

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Two U.P. agencies are receiving federal funds for various upgrades.

    The Economic Development Corporation of Chippewa County will receive a $71,250 Federal Aviation Administration grant for new snow removal equipment at the Chippewa County International Airport near Sault Ste. Marie.

    The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation.

    Also, the Daggett Township Volunteer Fire Department in Menominee County has been awarded a $20,000 Department of Homeland Security grant.

    The funding is awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program and can be used for training, equipment and facility upgrades and supplies that support firefighting and EMS operations and safety.
