MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An opportunity to have a “hands on” look back into aviation history is being presented this week at Sawyer International Airport in Marquette County.
A fully restored 1929 Ford Tri-Motor airliner is appearing through Wednesday as part of the 2012 EAA tour. The event gives the public a chance to see and ride in the world’s first mass-produced airliner.
The Ford Tri-Motor, nicknamed the “Tin Goose,” was built by the Ford Motor Company in the late 1920s and played a major part in the development of safe and reliable air transport in the United States.
Flights will be available to the public daily from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. today, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
