Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Northern Michigan University President Fritz Erickson is calling on university faculty and staff to help develop a new strategic plan.
During his annual Fall Convocation address, Erickson said dropping conventional thinking is required to help NMU adapt to higher education changes.
Erickson said NMU faces nationwide decreases in high school graduates, state funding changes, higher student expectations for technology and facilities and increased operating expenses.
He said the strategic plan priorities are enrollment, academic excellence, student success, outreach and engagement, and innovation and investment.
Erickson said he is engaging campus stakeholders in discussions this fall and will bring a completed plan to the NMU Board of Trustees in December.
