Bessemer Man Charged with Homicide

Bessemer man chared with first degree homicide

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A 50-year-old Western Upper Peninsula man has been charged with murdering his elderly wife.

Kenneth Peters of Bessemer was arraigned yesterday in Gogebic County Court on first degree homicide, vulnerable adult abuse, and second degree homicide charges. If he is convicted, he could spend life behind bars.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police arrested Peters Wednesday night.  They believe he was involved in the disappearance and death of his 79-year-old wife, Ethel Grzena-Peters. She was reported missing on August 3rd, and her body was found August 14th in Watersmeet Township.

Kenneth Peters is being held without bond in the Gogebic County Jail. He will be back in court on August 31st.
