ORV, Vehicle head on crash in Ishpeming Township

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in Ishpeming Township.

The accident was reported around 4:45 p.m. on Deer Lake Road about 3 and a half miles north of county road G.M. Deputies say a southbound Jeep Cherokee, driven by a 39-year-old Marquette man, came around a curve and found an oncoming northbound ORV in his lane.

The operator of the ORV, a 17-year-old Ishpeming male attempted to avoid the Jeep, but was unable to and collided head on with it.  Deputies say the ORV driver was attempting to pass another northbound ORV on the curve when the accident happened.

The 17-year-old was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment.  His condition is unknown at this time, but authorities say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

No names have been officially released at this time and the investigation is continuing.
