MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette County authorities responded to a bomb threat this afternoon at the main terminal at Sawyer International Airport.
State Police say the threat was phoned in to the 9-1-1 Central Dispatch Center in Negaunee Township at 1 o’clock today saying there would be a detonation at 2 p.m.
Officials say they did not believe the threat was a credible one, but the terminal was evacuated and police responded along normal lines of protocol.
No explosion occurred at 2 o’clock and police are now focusing on the recorded 9-1-1 message for clues to the identity of the caller.
No changes to the flight schedule are being reported and the investigation is continuing.
