Meth lab brush fire in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Negaunee Post are reporting the discovery of a meth lab this morning in Marquette Township.

Troopers were called to the scene of a brush fire near Forestville Road just after 8 a.m. by the Marquette Township Fire Department who found methamphetamine production components at the site of the fire.

Investigators believe the brush fire started when someone attempted to cook up the meth.  A State Police meth cleanup team was called in to secure the components and clear the scene of hazardous materials.

The fire burned up about 1000 square feet.  There have been no suspects identified at this time and the investigation is continuing.
