DNR Regional State Forest Management Plans For Public Review

    DNR's Regional State Forest Management PlansMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Department of Natural Resources says its draft Regional State Forest Management Plans, which are designed to help the DNR manage nearly 4 million acres of state forest lands, are now available for public review.

    The plans are posted on the DNR website,  michigan.gov/regionalforestplans, through Jan. 2.

    The DNR developed the three draft plans – which cover the eastern U.P., the western U.P. and the northern Lower Peninsula. Once finalized, the plans will provide long-term direction to guide DNR decisions about activities and treatments on state forest lands.

    The plans also ensure wildlife habitat and opportunities for recreation are protected.
