    Michigan unemployment rate fifth highest in SeptemberMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Though Michigan saw its unemployment rate fall in September for the first time since April, it ended up with the fifth highest unemployment rate among all the states.

    According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, most of the states saw their unemployment rates fall in September. In fact the jobless rates declined in 41 states and the District of Columbia last month, while it increased in six states and remained the same in three states.

    Michigan had a jobless rate of 9.3 percent in September, down from 9.4 percent in August.  Nevada had the highest unemployment rate at 11.8 percent, followed by California at 10.2 percent.

    North Dakota had the lowest unemployment rate at 3 percent.
