Germfask Township, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident just after 3:00 p.m. yesterday in Schoolcraft County’s Germfask Township.

Troopers say a 2008 Dodge Nitro, driven by 34-year-old Stephen Powers of Mackinaw City was southbound on M-77 near Robinson Road and slowed down to avoid hitting a dog.

While stopped on the highway, Powers’ vehicle was rear-ended by a 2008 Buick Enclave driven by 25-year-old Joel Smith of Wyoming, MI.

Powers’ vehicle was knocked off the road into the ditch. Both men were taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital with several minor injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and it remains under investigation.
