Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette City Commission has voted to approve the Board of Light & Power proposal to build a multimillion dollar energy center in the city and enact a corresponding 30 percent rate increase for customers.
Following a lengthy public comment session, commissioners approved the plan by a 4-3 vote last night.
Commissioners Coyne, Frazier, Conley and Campana cast yes votes while Commissioners Baldini, Reynolds and Cambensy voted no.
The rate increase will go in to effect in October of 2016.
