Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Northern Michigan University is one of over 20 state universities and community colleges that will receive funding from an effort designed to reduce on-campus sexual assaults.
The schools will share $500,000 under the Campus Sexual Assault Grant Program.
NMU will receive $30,000 for sexual assault prevention programs.
Other U.P. schools receiving funding include Michigan Tech, Lake Superior State and Finlandia University.
The funding is going to programs that focus on changing the overall culture of sexual assault among the college-age population and is the result of work spearheaded by Michigan first lady Sue Snyder.
