MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette City police responded to a vehicle/pedestrian accident last night that claimed the life of one person.
Officers were called out to the intersection of the US-41 bypass and Grove Street just after 8:15 p.m.
According to a statement from the Marquette Police Department, a person was attempting to cross the highway when they were struck by a westbound vehicle on US-41.
The pedestrian was identified as a 53-year-old Marquette resident, and the driver of the vehicle was identified as a 35-year-old resident of Chocolay Township.
The pedestrian died of injuries sustained in the accident. No names have been released as the investigation continues.
