MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Upper Peninsula Sled Dog Association has made some changes to the starting ceremonies for the U.P. 200 and Midnight Run sled dog races set for Friday, February 15 in downtown Marquette.
The UPSDA will be starting the Midnight Run Sled Dog Race later than previously announced. The group says The Midnight Run, originally scheduled to begin immediately after the U.P. 200, will now be delayed until 9 p.m. that night.
Officials say the change will keep the two races from meeting each other in the woods, causing possible entanglements. It will also insure The Midnight Run will finish in Munising at a more spectator friendly time, between 8:30 and 10:30 Saturday morning.
As a result of the later start of the Midnight Run, there is a need for extra volunteers to help. Anyone willing to help should call Anna Sanford at 906-942-7850.
