    Deputy stabbed in Iron Mountain at ski tournamentMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The investigation is continuing into a stabbing of a sheriff’s deputy yesterday at the Pine Mountain Ski Jumping Tournament in Iron Mountain.

    Reports say a 74-year-old Norway man was arrested after stabbing a Dickinson County Sheriff’s Deputy just after noon yesterday at the Continental Cup.

    The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says two deputies patrolling the event on foot were near the club house when the suspect approached them from behind and stabbed one of them in the upper back. The man was subdued and arrested and the injured deputy was treated at the scene.

    The Sheriff says the man attended the event with intent to target a deputy, although no deputy in particular was targeted.

    A search warrant has been executed at the suspect’s residence and the case is under review by the Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney.  No names have been released at this time.
