Multi-Vehicle Accident in Negaunee

    Great Lakes Radio NewsMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Negaunee City Police are continuing their investigation into a multi-vehicle accident that happened yesterday afternoon at the intersection of US 41 and Teal Lake Avenue.

    The accident happened around 1:40 p.m. when a minivan heading west on US 41, driven by 29-year-old Jackie Swanson of Ishpeming, crossed the center line and hit an oncoming SUV, driven by 68-year-old Ruth Kivimaki of Negaunee Township, head-on.  The SUV was pushed into a pickup truck driven by 29-year-old Kevin VanHamlin of Gwinn.

    The Swanson minivan then struck another minivan that was waiting to turn at the intersection. That minivan was driven by 39-year-old Daryl Rogers of Negaunee.

    Swanson, Kivimaki and a passenger in the Swanson minivan were taken to Bell Hospital for treatment of injuries. Two other passengers in Swanson’s minivan sustained some minor injuries in the crash.
