Severe Winter Weather To Hit Most Of Upper Michigan

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A mix of snow, sleet, ice and high winds will be hitting a major portion of the entire state over the next day or so.

    The National Weather Service says a Winter Storm Warning has been posted from 7:00 o’clock tonight to 7:00 p.m. tomorrow for the central and eastern U.P.

    Heavy wet snow will fall this evening through tomorrow afternoon, with the heaviest snow falling overnight tonight. Snow totals of up to 8 inches are expected by late tomorrow afternoon.

    As much as 11 inches of snow may accumulate over the higher terrain from Negaunee across the Huron Mountains.

    A Winter Weather Advisory is posted for overnight tonight into tomorrow for Western Upper Michigan. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected there with most of he snow accumulation occurring by mid morning tomorrow.

    Easterly winds gusting to around 30 to 35 mph along the Lake Superior shoreline will create some blowing and drifting snow in open areas across the U.P.
