Gwinn Woman Arraigned for Car-Train Accident

    Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Marquette County woman was arraigned yesterday in connection with a recent car-train accident near Little Lake.

    24-year-old Samantha Jo French of Gwinn was arraigned in Marquette County District Court on two counts of Operating Under the Influence causing Serious Injury and one count of Possession of Marijuana.

    She was the driver of a Chevy Impala on Ski Hill Road in Little Lake, just north of M-35 last Thursday evening that collided with a Canadian National Railway train.  French’s 5 and 6 year old children and her mother were injured in the incident.

    The police say there were no lights or gate bars at the intersection. French is being held in the Marquette County Jail on $305,000 bond and is scheduled to be back in court on April 10.

    The incident remains under investigation.
