Giving blood can be a very intimidating thing for the first time donor. Will it hurt, how much will it hurt; how long does it take…all questions easily answered by the professionals at The U.P. Regional Blood Center at Marquette General.
The most painful part of the procedure actually may be the writing cramps one gets from filling out the questionaire beforehand, as all efforts are made to learn about the history of the donor; ensuring a safe blood supply. The needle is more or less slight discomfort rather than pain, the chairs are comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and they go out of their way to make the experience as pleasant as possible.
You must be 17 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds and you’re all set. In about 25 minutes you will have taken great strides towards giving the gift of life!
